This MHP product WEBHD | Weber Stainless Steel Lower Heat Plates is a heat plates sit above the gas grill burners and disperse the heat that the burner produces evenly throughout the grilling surface preventing uneven cooking, maximizing grill space, and protecting burners from drippings. Over time, heat plates can rust and deteriorate resulting in uneven heat distribution, flare-ups, and increased risk of grease fires. If your heat plates have deteriorated and you are getting uneven performance from your barbecue it’s time to consider replacing them.

To ensure you choose the correct replacement part for your grill, we recommend removing the original part and comparing it to what we list. You can also check your owner’s manual to make sure this part will work with your grill.

Maintenance:

In maintaining your heat plates, we recommend thoroughly cleaning your heat plates a few times a year to maximize their lifespan and efficiency.

  • Turn all of the burners up to full power and let the grill stand for 10 minutes.
  • Allow the grill to cool.
  • Remove the heat plates and brush them using a grill brush (we recommend W8B Bristle Brush). You can also immerse them in soapy water occasionally, using a soft sponge to clean them.
  • Rinse them thoroughly and wipe off with a clean towel, before putting them back in the grill

Use the WB8 Bristle Brush to gently remove any food debris or build-up from your stainless steel heat plates.

Installation:

For your grill to operate effectively it is important to correctly install your heat plates. If the heat plates are not correctly installed or positioned grease drippings, sauces and marinades can land on the burners which can cause flare-ups.

  • Genesis models have two different notches for the heat plates—indents, which are rectangular and peaks which are pyramid shaped.
  • Each heat plate needs to be centered over the “peak” between each indent leaving only the rectangular indents showing.
