What is a SUBEIS (Submersible Electronic Ignition System)?
What is an AFOW (Automated Fire On Water)?
Yes. Shallow bowls will not be able to accommodate a large pan-style electronic ignition system (EIS). Bowls with a depth of 10" or less do not have enough room to fit a burner insert and an EIS within them. You would need to utilize our match lit ignition systems or a flat burner for your smaller depth bowls.
When choosing a burner insert for your concrete bowl, always subtract 12 inches from the diameter of the bowl to figure out the largest sized burner you can use.
Inserts must sit on top of your fire media near the lip of the bowl. Do not place the burner at the bottom of the bowl and cover with lava rock or fire glass. This is considered misuse and can lead to explosion of the product!
Inserts are available in round or square shapes to correspond with your feature.
Besides the burner, we include a 24 inch gas input flex line and installation instructions.
No, the burner kit comes fully assembly.
All of our electronic ignition burners are mde from 18 gauge stainless steel. The gauge is the thickness of the metal. The lower the number, the thicker and stronger the stainless steel. There should be no bending or dents made from an 18 gauge burner.
Yes
Fast and simple to use with no electricity required! Light a long-stem match next to the burner, insert the flange key into the valve on the flex line, and slowly turn the gas on. When lighting your outdoor fire feature, please remember to use caution and face away from the wind.
Different shaped burners create a different shaped fire. Some burners, like the square or s-fire models are made to fit a rectangular or linear fire feature. And the star-shaped penta burners produce a fuller, more natural looking blaze than traditional burner rings. If a hotter fire is desired, a burner with multiple inner rings is the best choice.
Both systems burn at the same BTU rate but the crossfire brass burners use less gas while producing a flame twice as high. This is achieved by pulling more oxygen and a high velocity gas flow.
Also, the brass is resistant to corrosion and won't rust like stainless steel. Because of this, all crossfire brass burners come with a lifetime warranty.
Weep holes are precision cut lines and/or holes that help with water drainage in the burner to help keep the burner protected from water damage. But, as always, we recommend getting a waterproof cover for your fire pit to keep it dry when not in use.
The electronically-controlled valve is sealed to prevent water leakage. This allows the manifold to be installed directly underwater, provided the feature in which it will reside is deep enough to fully submerse the control box and manifold. The SUBEIS is terrific for larger water bowls that are mounted on a very shallow base next to your in-ground pool, or in areas with limited access to plumbing.
This particular electronic ignition system requires the control valve box to be installed before the gas line feeds into the desired outdoor feature. It is important to know that the AFOW systems are not waterproof or rated for submersion; however, they should not be utilized near or in conjunction with saltwater. If you had a shallow fire and water bowl that was mounted on top of a pedestal, for example, this component would need to be situated outside of the pedestal (or inside, depending on the configuration of the piece), away from the water. This arrangement allows the homeowner to access the system for routine maintenance. In addition, the AFOW includes a pilot wire (available in 10, 15, or 20 feet) that you can easily run from the valve box, through your water feature, and to the igniter which will be above the surface of the water.
