Not all fireplaces are built the same, and that’s ok! While the majority of the masonry fireplace doors that we offer are three-sided overlap doors that are made for fireplaces with a hearth that is level with the firebox floor or raised above it, we have doors to fit fireplaces with a suspended firebox as well!
Affectionately dubbed hole in the wall fireplaces, these have raised fireboxes that sit above a hearth, typically requiring a four-sided overlap door, which would install with a portion of its frame overlapping around the outside of the fireplace opening on all four sides.
Our collection of four-sided overlap doors include many different styles of custom doors that work well with just about any hole-in-the-wall masonry fireplace. We offer doors that appeal to both modern and classic tastes.
Since your new door will frame your fireplace completely, the style and overlap amount will be a significant factor in determining which door will work best for your fireplace and your personal style. We have options ranging from slim, sleek, minimalistic doors with only ½” of overlap, to wider, bolder doors with over 2” of overlap.
Most of our four-sided overlap doors can be highly customized, as well! You’ll be able to select from an array of different finishes and glass tints, as well as choose what safety mesh options you might like to include in the door’s construction. Some of the door models also offer different handles and decorative door designs that you can choose from! These masonry fireplaces can have many different facing materials, including brick, stone, marble, granite, and tile, as well as others. For brick and stone facings, we recommend doors with a minimum of 1” overlap to cover any inconsistencies. For marble, granite, tile, and other smooth facing materials, just about any door would work well, including those slim-framed doors with very little overlap!
A masonry fireplace is a structural piece of artwork carefully designed and crafted to suit your home, and a four-sided overlap door is the perfect opportunity to frame that artwork well. Give your hole-in-the-wall fireplace the door it deserves!
