The DuraVent 8" DuraTech Ceiling Roof Support Kit is a comprehensive package designed to simplify installing a robust chimney system, particularly suited for ceilings. With meticulous attention to detail, this kit incorporates essential components to ensure a secure and efficient connection for your 8" DuraTech chimney.
Key components included in this all-inclusive kit are as follows:
1. 8" DuraTech Chimney Cap: The chimney cap is a barrier to keep out garbage, rainfall, and other unwanted variables from accessing the chimney while ensuring enough ventilation.
2. 8" DuraTech Storm Collar: The storm collar enhances the chimney against the damaging impacts of bad weather by creating an impermeable membrane around it, adding another level of protection.
3. 8" DuraTech Roof Support: Developed for reliability and flexibility, it ensures that the chimney can go through the ceiling effectively and can be simply modified to fit varying roof pitches.
4. 8" DuraTech Finishing Collar: The finishing collar, which merges design and function, provides the place where the chimney joins the ceiling with a polished appearance, simplifying the transition and increasing the overall appearance.
5. 8" DuraTech Flashing: As a weatherproof barrier, the flashing prevents water penetration around the chimney, contributing to the overall waterproofing of the roof and preserving the integrity of the chimney system.
6. 8" DuraTech Trim Collar: The trim collar adds a final touch to the support, ensuring a visually appealing integration of the chimney with the roof structure while maintaining structural integrity.
In summary, the DuraVent 8" DuraTech Ceiling Roof Support Kit is a comprehensive solution that not only addresses the practical aspects of chimney installation but also emphasizes a refined and cohesive aesthetic. How to Install a DuraTech Chimney Pipe Kit with a Ceiling Roof Support?
To ensure a secure and efficient chimney installation, follow these persuasive steps to achieve a professional and compliant setup using the Roof Support system:
The Roof Support is a versatile solution that can be used at the base of your chimney installation (see Fig. A).
This approach is especially effective for basement installations, providing a stable and secure foundation. Always maintain a minimum of 2 inches clearance to combustible materials to ensure safety.
The DuraTech Chimney must extend at least 3 inches below the finished ceiling or exposed framing. Note that it’s essential to use a connector pipe for the final connection to the appliance.
- Position the Appliance: Place your appliance according to the manufacturer's instructions. Ensure the flue outlet is positioned between the ceiling rafters or joists for easy alignment.
- Cut and Frame Openings: Cut circular or oval openings in the ceiling, maintaining a 2-inch clearance around the chimney pipe. This allows room for the Trim Collar.
- Attach Roof Support Brackets: Secure the brackets to the floor with four nails or screws on each side (see Fig. A). This provides a sturdy base for the chimney.
- Assemble Chimney Sections: Extend the DuraTech Chimney at least 3 inches below the ceiling. Maintain 2 inches of clearance from any walls or ceilings. Attach the Roof Support Band with bolts and secure with screws. Add chimney sections above the roof, ensuring the total height does not exceed 30 feet (10 feet above the support).
- Install Firestop Radiation Shield: Position the Firestop Shield below the ceiling. Trim it if needed to fit around the Roof Support.
- Connect the Chimney and Pipe: Attach the Finishing Collar to the chimney base, then slide the Trim Collar over it and secure it to the ceiling using the screws provided. This connects the chimney to the connector pipe.
- Attach Flashing: Install the Flashing either before or after assembling the chimney sections, depending on whether the roof is new or existing. Make sure the chimney stays vertical and maintains 2 inches of clearance from combustibles. Secure and seal the Flashing properly.
- Finish the Top: Seal around the chimney with high-temperature sealant, then slide down the Storm Collar and secure it. Install the Chimney Cap by twist-locking it into place. If your chimney extends over 5 feet above the roof, add an Extended Roof Bracket for support. In snowy regions, a Snow Splitter is recommended.
Note: Non-combustible insulation is not allowed with Roof Supported installations.
By following these steps, you'll achieve a safe, secure, and compliant chimney installation, ensuring long-lasting performance and reliability. The DuraTech Ceiling Roof Support Kit is available in 6-Inches, 7-Inches and 8-Inches.
