The DuraVent 7" DuraTech Ceiling Support Box Kit is an innovative kit developed to install a durable, reliable chimney system in buildings boasting cathedral ceilings seamlessly and stylishly. Designed with care, this package contains all the necessary parts that ensure an adequate and appealing fit for your 7" DuraTech chimney. The set includes:

1. 7" DuraTech Storm Collar: Offering an additional layer of defense, the storm collar establishes a watertight seal around the chimney, reinforcing its resistance against adverse weather conditions.

2. 7" DuraTech Chimney Cap: The chimney cap is a barrier that keeps outside garbage, raindrops, and other external elements while permitting sufficient air circulation.

3. 7" DuraTech Finishing Collar with Adapter: Merging functionality with aesthetics, the finishing collar ensures a polished appearance where the chimney passes through the ceiling, creating a seamless transition and enhancing the overall visual appeal.

4. 7" DuraTech Ceiling Support Box: The ceiling support box is an essential element that lets the chimney go through the cathedral ceiling while keeping a solid and safe connection. It is constructed for both sturdy support and artistic integration.

5. 7" DuraTech Flashing: By preventing water from penetrating the flashing and acting as a weatherproof barrier, it helps to keep the roof waterproof overall and maintains the structural integrity of the chimney system.

A whole and unique solution is the DuraVent 7" DuraTech Cathedral Ceiling Support Box Kit. It discusses the pragmatic aspects of installing chimneys and emphasizes a sophisticated and cohesive style for cathedral ceiling arrangements. This kit demonstrates DuraVent's dedication to offering a dependable and comprehensive chimney system built specifically for installations in cathedral ceilings.

How to Install a DuraTech Chimney Pipe Kit with a Ceiling Support Box?

For a safe, secure, and efficient chimney installation, the Support Box is a crucial component. Whether you’re using a Square Ceiling Support Box or a Reduced Clearance Support Box, ensure that it extends at least 2 inches below the lowest point of the finished ceiling (Figure A). This is vital for proper support and clearance. The Support Box must also remain level and the top edge must cover the roof's decking. Note that all mobile home chimney installations must be roof-supported. The DuraTech Ceiling Support Box Kit is available in 6-Inches, 7-Inches and 8-Inches.

  1. Position the Appliance: Set up the appliance according to the manufacturer's instructions, aligning the flue outlet between rafters or joists if possible.
  2. Cut Openings: Make an opening in the ceiling with 2 inches of space around the chimney pipe. The opening should be circular or oval for the Trim Collar to fit properly.
  3. Install the Support Box:
    • Insert the Support Box into the opening so it extends at least 2 inches below the ceiling.
    • Level the box and secure it to the roof framing with three nails or screws per side.
    • Attach the trim sections to the ceiling.
  4. Assemble Chimney Sections: Insert the first chimney section into the Support Box and twist-lock it in place. Use short screws (if needed) to secure the connection, but do not penetrate the inner liner.
  5. Install the Spray Foam Insulation Shield: Install it like the Support Box but use only one nail or screw per side.
  6. Attach Flashing:
    • For new roofs, slide the Flashing over the chimney after assembling the chimney sections.
    • For existing roofs, install the Flashing before extending the chimney. Ensure the chimney is straight and has 2 inches of clearance from combustibles.
    • Secure and seal the Flashing properly with roofing nails and sealant.

Following these simple steps will help ensure a secure and efficient chimney installation.
