The Difference Between The Nightwell, Pelham, and Ragnarok

What's the Difference Between The Nightwell, Pelham, and Ragnarok?

Here at Fireplace Doors Online, we specialize in doors for your fireplace. . . if our name didn’t already give that away. Along the way, a trio of zero clearance doors rose above the others to be customer favorites: the Nightwell, Pelham, and Ragnarok. But at first glance, these doors do look rather similar and many ask what’s the difference between them. The main differences are within the frames as well as the glass and assembly.

NightwellThe Nightwell Zero Clearance Fireplace door has a matte black finish and fits more factory built fireplaces

  • Starting with the main frame that surrounds and supports the doors, the Nightwell has a slightly rounded frame while the Pelham and Ragnarok have flat frames.
  • The Nightwell has an extended inner side frame that can be seen through the air gaps on the sides of the door. The other two doors do not.
  • Its black powder coat finish is more matte and slightly textured.
  • The quarter inch tempered safety glass is covered by a 1 year warranty
  • The door comes fully assembled and ready to install when it arrives
  • With the widest frame at 1 inch, the Nightwell is the sturdiest of the doors as well.
  • Fastest shipping lead time

PelhamThe Pelham Zero Clearance fireplace door features an anodized black frame with bi-fold doors

  • Unlike the Nightwell, the facing of the Pelham’s frame is flat.
  • There is no extended inner side frame behind the air gaps, giving the door a slightly wider view into the firebox.
  • The anodized black finish is the darkest black of the three doors and it has a slight sheen to it.
  • While the other doors have quarter inch thick tempered safety glass, the glass in the Pelham is 3/16 inch thick. It is also covered by a 1 year warranty.
  • The door comes fully assembled and ready to install when it arrives
  • The Pelham has the slimmest frame of the three doors at 11/16 inch wide.

Ragnarok

  • The glass in the Ragnarok Prefab Fireplace Door is covered with a lifetime warranty! The Ragnarok also has a smooth and flat frame facing
  • There is no extended inner side frame behind the air gaps, making the view into the firebox slightly wider.
  • The anodized black finish is slightly lighter than the Pelham’s and without the sheen.
  • While the glass in the Ragnarok is a quarter inch, just like in the Nightwell, the Ragnarok’s glass is covered by a lifetime warranty.
  • The Ragnarok is slightly more affordable than its counterparts. Part of this may be from a cut in labor costs since the Ragnarok does require some assembly by the contractor or homeowner before it can be installed.
  • Viewing area with the Ragnarock door is slightly smaller height wise because the top and bottom part of the main frame extends an extra half inch into the opening.
  • Has the deepest frame of the three doors at 1-1/16 inch.
