Spooktacular Mantels for Halloween!

Oct 7, 2019    Mantels & Hearths, For The Holidays

It’s that time of the year for zombies, ghouls and great candy.

It’s Halloween!

Whether you decorate for the kids or you just never grew out of your love for everything spooky, you’re ready to get your home ready for a little frigThis beautiful Halloween mantel decor was done with inexpensive supplies! Between the Halloween theme and existing red wall, it's a spooky setting.ht with some Halloween mantel décor! We’ve got some great ideas that’ll turn your fireplace into a beautiful part of your DIY haunted house.

Red Halloween

This fireplace mantel has been circulating the web for a decade now and it never gets old.* The wall behind the fireplace mantel magically becomes a part of the décor when lights are used to create shadows and enhance both the vibrant wall color and the Halloween mantel décor.  Because of this and the existing décor, this Halloween fireplace mantel probably didn’t take that much work! It’d be a perfect idea to work off of when you’ve got a busy schedule.

Supplies needed:

  • Netted creepy cloth
  • Tapered candles
  • Tea light candles
  • Candle holders
  • Orange string lights
  • A decorative broom
  • Tin French buckets
  • Old-fashioned framed picture
  • Small red lampshades

Most, if not all of these supplies can be found at your local dollar store or craft store. If you can’t find everything in the picture, like a red candle holder, you could try LED tea lights and red tissue paper instead. Or, get creative! It’s Halloween, after all. You’re allowed to have some fun.

Sophisticated HalElegant Halloween mantel decor is absolutely beautiful and with a few changes, can be used year around.loween Mantel Décor

If you don’t have a red wall to work with and want something a little more subtle, this might be for you! What’s really nice about this festive mantel is that with a few changes, it works for all of autumn. Like the first project we talked about many of these items are at the dollar store, or you can get a little crafty and make them! If you need a mantel, we’d love to help!

We absolutely love this DIY project and if you want to see it on your own fireplace mantel, check out Faith Towers’ DIY guide here!

Let’s Make Halloween

We’ve seen a clever use of color. We’ve seen tasteful and elegant. We’ve seen Halloween mantel décor appropriate to mature adults who just give a polite nod to the Halloween season.

And then there’s this.

Halloween is, if anything, over the top! Check out this loud and extravagant Halloween mantel decor! To be fair, Halloween mantel décor is in a professional haunted house in Texas, but it’s awesome. Perhaps it is just made better knowing that every other room in that house is decorated with the same gusto as this fireplace. Regardless, it is truly a work of Halloween art that can definitely inspire your own mantel masterpiece! Here are some of the supplies that our Halloween-obsessed eyes can pick out:

  • Green and orange ribbon
  • Halloween branches
  • Orange string lights
  • Multiple pumpkins
  • Plastic skeletons
  • Halloween dolls/statues
  • Netted creepy cloth

It looks like many of these items were made and then placed on the mantel with the string lights applied after. This makes it a lot easier to put together and dismantle your Halloween mantel décor later on. With décor as beautiful as this, you can save it and reuse it next year.

Here’s an idea: get a black boa and a metal floral wreath and then wrap the boa around the wreath to create one like that! You may need more than one boa to get the same thickness. You can also help recreate that look with the right fireplace screen.

Halloween’s roots are traced back to festivals honoring the end of the harvest and beginning of the coldest part of the year. For many of us, it is a chance to go all out. Thanksgiving is about the family and food, Christmas is about the kids, but Halloween is a perfect opportunity to dress up, spend time together and have one last hurrah before the cold sets in. So, get out and have fun! Throw an epic party and if your fireplace looks awesome, tag us! We’d love to see anything that our blog might’ve helped inspire. Have fun trick-or-treating and of course....

Happy Halloween!

*We’re all about giving credit where credit is due. The best we could do with the ‘Red Halloween’ fireplace image was from 2009. It’s found in a blog titled “Poor neglected Allsorts” on this blog. It’s been reused many, many times by other sites.

Please give us a call if you're interested in purchasing a mantel!
