The timer feature lets you schedule the operation time up to 9 hours. A partial plastic cover slides up and down to cover the buttons so that your desired settings aren't adjusted by accident. The millivolt gas valve compatible receiver has the capacity to learn up to 1,048,567 security codes as well as an additional 2 Skytech transmitters. It communicates with the remote and your fireplace within a 20-foot range! The childproof features allow you to "lockout" operations from the transmitter.
