Description

With a symbol of a great oak tree, also known as "The King of the Forest", this cast iron fireback pays a tribute to all the perks we receive from trees. Old firebacks and stove plates used to follow a tradition of adding the date to the lower panel. The fist artist of Pennsylvania Firebacks, J. Del Conner, was inspired in art school to re-create this tradition in 1979. This fireback comes covered in a black-water based paint. This is to prevent rust during transportation, however chips or imperfections may appear in the paint. This is easily removed by burning them off over time after a season of use. If an immediate finished look is desired, then you can use stove polish to complete the look. You can also apply stove polish yearly to keep the fireback looking new!  You can also stand this fireback up with the uniquely designed Safe-T-Boots. These special feet can allow the fireback to be positioned upright, leaning slightly back, or even leaning forward at a number of different angles against the back wall of the fireplace hearth. The feet can also be used with several log holders such as any wrought iron or cast iron grate, andirons (fire-dogs), or a gas log system! DO NOT: Expose the fireback to coal fires Expose the fireback to water Use with a "Wall of Fire" type grate or lean burning logs up against the fireback.  Safe-T-Boots Specifications: Width: 2 1/2 Inches Depth: 8 1/4 Inches Weight: 11 Pounds Material: Cast Iron Steps: 1 1/2 Inches | 2 Inches | 2 1/2 Inches | 3 Inches This fireback will not fit the lowest step.
