This hand crafted in the USA cast iron fireback is specially designed to be used alone or it can be combined with other units to fit a variety of fireplace sizes! With its thin profile of 14 inches, it makes a perfect fit for a Rumford fireplace. This fireback is coated in a matte black water-based paint to help prevent rusting during transport. This paint could potentially show minor imperfections, which are easily removed with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper. If there are any bare spots in the paint, you can cover them up with the (sold separate) stove polish. This polish can also be applied yearly to give off a new look! If you want your fireback upright, leaning forward, or leaning backwards instead of leaned against the fireplace rear wall, then you can use the uniquely designed (sold separate) Safe-T-Boots, which are also compatible with cast iron grates, wrought iron grates, fire-dogs (andirons), or a gas log system.
