This new 30 percent tax credit is available for appliances installed between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2032. Customers will claim their tax credit when they file their taxes on IRS form 5695 under “Residential Energy Efficient Property Credit “. They will need their purchase receipt (showing the cost of the product and installation). Customers will also need the manufacturer certificate stating that the stove qualifies for the credit and is at least 75 percent efficient HHV. The credit applies to qualifying wood and pellet stoves and, unfortunately, not to gas stoves. People who have zero tax liability may not qualify for the tax credit. It's recommended to consult a qualified tax professional to determine if the customer is eligible to take advantage of this tax credit.
