Fireplace and Stove FAQs

Can I paint my fireplace?

You can, although we don't really recommend it. People have in the past with mixed results. Sometimes it looks fine, sometimes, not so much. Whatever you do, remember to always use special high-temperature paint.

Will my electric fireplace plug into any standard outlet?

Yes, many electric fireplaces are ready to plug into any standard 120V household outlet. Some electric fireplaces will require direct-wire installation (although plug kits are included and/or available) and are "dual" voltage, which means they can be wired for 120V or 240V power, thus, doubling the heat output.

Why can't I burn wood in the outdoor gas fireplaces?

Our line of gas outdoor fireplaces are made of glass fiber reinforced concrete. Wood fires actually burn hotter than gas fires. The concrete can't take all that heat and will crack and/ or explode.

What is a fireplace insert heat exchanger?

Fireplace inserts are another way to incorporate a heat exchanger into your application. Basically, an insert is a metal box that fits into an existing masonry fireplace. Inserts have built-in heating chambers that produce warm air from the cool temperatures that enter the firebox. This option is certainly effective, but not quite as affordable as a mounted heat exchanger or a grate heater.

What is a fireplace louver kit?

Louver plates provide ventilation in fireplaces to let out excess internal heat. The kits also come with a filter for the plate that helps stop dust, dirt, and tiny critters from entering the vent. They are usually designed to fit behind the louver plate.

Why can't I install the free-standing fireplaces in my mobile home?

Can I cook food on the stovetop?

Yes, the indoor wood stovetop does get hot enough to cook on. So please be careful and don't touch the top of the stove while there is a fire lit in the stove, and wait the appropriate amount of time for it to cool off when the fire is extinguished.
