Brick and Mortar Cleaner is a highly effective, safer alternative to cleaning brick with muriatic acid without any toxic fumes or risk of acid burns when used as directed. The ideal mortar cleaner for removing creosote stains, smoke residue, mortar splatter, rust, algae, mildew, and efflorescence from your chimney, fireplace, and hearth! Will not blacken, streak, or damage metals such as aluminum chimney flashings. To use, first dilute solution by slowly adding 4 parts water to 1 part brick cleaner while stirring. The product can be used at full strength for difficult to remove stains or diluted for lighter cleaning. Remove any loose particles from the surface with a non-metal, stiff-bristled brush, wet surface with water, and flood with cleaner. Scrub the area thoroughly, allow to sit for 3 to 5 minutes to deeply penetrate stains, and rinse with plenty of water to finish. Please refer to our instruction manual for more information.
