All About Stainless Steel Fire Pit Burner Rings

All About Stainless Steel Fire Pit Burner Rings!

The Facts

  • All of our outdoor burner rings are made of 304 stainless steel, which has a higher corrosion resistance than regular steel.

  • All fire pit burner rings from Fireplace Doors Online can be used with natural gas or liquid propane fuel. An air mixer is provided when selecting propane.

  • The stainless steel burners have precision drilled port holes, evenly staggered to produce a fuller, more natural looking flame and quieter burn.

  • All burner rings feature a “raised hub” to prevent water and moisture from getting inside the burner.

What’s the difference between the various burner shapes?

Differently shaped burners create a differently shaped fire and most burners are made to fit certain shaped fire feature. For example, the H burner models are made to fit a rectangular or linear fire feature while square burners are for square fire features and so on.

  • If a hotter fire is desired, a burner with multiple inner rings is the best choice. The more inner rings, the hotter and bigger the fire. More volume. Not necessarily a higher flame height.

  • Typically the bigger the ring, the more BTUs (British Thermal Units), but not always. The more BTUs a burner ring uses, the more fuel it will require, but that does not necessarily mean that it will give off more heat.

What size burner do I need for my fire pit?

When choosing a burner insert for your fire pit or outdoor fire feature, always subtract 12 inches from the diameter of the fire pit to figure out the largest sized burner you can use.

  • For example: If your fire pit is 30 inches in diameter, subtract 12 from 30. You would need to choose the closest burner to 18 inches in diameter.

  • If you can’t find a burner that is exactly the size you need, always go slightly small than bigger for what you need to keep within proper clearances.

* Fire pit burners must sit on top of your fire media near the lip of the pit. Do not place the burner at the bottom of the fire pit and cover it with lava rock or fire glass. This is considered misuse and can lead to an explosion of the unit!
